Alyssa and Luke met at 18 years old in March of 2021, while Alyssa was at the end of a trip she had taken to Georgia.

They met while in a group with mutual friends and quickly caught the attention of one another. Knowing Alyssa lived in Nevada and Luke in Georgia they had to quickly decide whether or not this was something they wanted to pursue or leave as a fun memory. Luke was persistent in his texting, consistently making plans to watch movies with Alyssa over FaceTime and keep their friendship alive in order to keep talking to her. After a few weeks of talking to each other, Alyssa made plans to take another trip out to Georgia for a weekend, but this time Luke knew he needed to up the ante a bit and make a romantic gesture. Over the time they had spent apart leading up to Alyssa coming into town again, Luke was eagerly waiting to spend time with her. This time it would be 10 weeks apart, so he knew he needed to make his time with Alyssa count. Luke had been on a trip to the beach and while he was there he gathered 10 seashells and when Alyssa and he met in April, Luke gifted Alyssa with 10 seashells and 10 letters for her to open one letter per week they’d spend apart.

But the story takes a turn because only 2 weeks into their time apart, Luke FaceTimed Alyssa with a poster in his hands asking her if she would go to her senior Prom with him out in Nevada. Alyssa of course said yes and Luke flew out to a side of the country he had never visited before. They attended the prom at Central Christian Church and while a slow song was playing on May 5th, 2021 Luke asked Alyssa if she would be his girlfriend.

Then, for the next two years, Alyssa and Luke had a long distant relationship in which they’d travel to see each other as often as possible while both in college getting their degrees, and once Luke finished college in 2023, he made the bold move to leave his friends, family and the place he called home for 20 years, pack up his Honda and move to Nevada to be closer to Alyssa. From then, they spent the next 2 years adjusting to a relationship that did not have long distance, Luke getting a job and Alyssa finishing her degree, and 5 days after Alyssa taking the board exam, Luke dropped down on one knee and asked Alyssa the most important question he would ever ask…
